Parliamentary focused

This page has multiple sections the first section is primarilly focused on introducing the available information about MP’s work in Parliament.

Below this is an explanation of all the information available from the official Parliamentary website and what it all means.

This section helps the viewer understand what an MP gets up to in Parliament. Our research has shown that very few voters actually know what an MP does, or should do, and this section helps to educate them about that on our terms.

The side bar/column is automatically populated with items from [MP’s work] page which are catagorised or tagged with [Parliament] and will always show the latest items.

MP’s work

Category & Tag based search facility for News and campaigns section.

These pages enables the MP and their staff to keep the website updated with any information they wish.

It is built on the Squarespace ‘blog’ plug-in and will be formatted to expect a lead picture which will be displayed alongside the heading and then explanatory copy for the story. Additional pics and/or videos can be added to the content.

It is completely searchable, as long as the story tags are included in the back end. Stories tagged [Parliamentary] will automatically populate the Parliament page, and the latest stories will appear on the Home page automatically. Any amount of stories can be shown per page with a next page link.

These stories could be: community/ constituency work; parliamentary work; Labour Government successes and achievements; info and updates on campaigns; opinion pieces by MPs…… Really, the content is only limited by the work of the MP and the imagination about what could be included.

Everything on this page should be used to drive social media channels, email newsletters and printed materials produced for delivery.

This page, and the current campaigns page, are the heartbeat of the website.

Training will be provided in how to use this page.

Each campaign will have a specific form for people to become involved and for data capture. The data can be stored as either a CSV/Excel spreadsheet, linked to Mailchimp or similar or linked to populate Google drive or similar and a notification email sent to the admin email account, and will be accessible to MP/staff by login. data can be exported and used in other MP and voter databases.

New campaigns can be added easily by copying one of the templates for an existing campaign and altering it with new campaign info and call to action, updating the email address and relinking the data capture form.

These campaigns should drive social media content, email interactions and be replicated in printed materials and letters to voters as appropriate.

Training will be provided on how to do this.
